New Panther Mascot Comes Roaring Onto Campus

New year, new Panther!

Masters unveiled its revamped Panther mascot to the community over the past two weeks.

The rollout included a fitness-inspired transformation video on social media, mystery paw print stickers around campus and, finally, special appearances at upper and middle school meetings.

"The design of the Panther was a collaborative effort among members of the Athletics, Admission and Communications Departments," Assistant Athletic Director Juan Cobos said. "It took us a few months to get the right look for our Panther. We wanted the Panther to be intimidating during sporting events, but also feel approachable. After a few versions with different color choices, uniform designs and general appearance, we settled on what we believe is the best Panther to represent Masters."

The new Panther attended its first official athletics event, a varsity girls basketball league game against Greens Farms Academy, on Thursday, January 9, at the Fonseca Center.

"All these moments were exciting to be a part of and we look forward to creating more memories with the School," Cobos said. "The next big moment for the Panther will be Spirit Week from February 3-8."

But wait, there's more!

Students in both divisions will also get the chance to name the Panther. Submissions for the online contest are due Thursday, January 17. The winning name will be announced after WinterMission.

Go, Panthers!
