The Masters School celebrates active participation, deep understanding, and meaningful connection. A community of diverse individuals, we gather to learn, to strive, to dare, to do — to be a power for good in the world.
MISH is the oldest standing program on campus and is central to the Masters’ mission of becoming “a power for good in the world." Students engaging with MISH programs explore the core tenets of Service and Community. Radical generosity is the foundation of the students' exploration of self and will guide how they bring their talents to the table, thinking about and addressing the social problems they identify in the world around them. All Masters students have an opportunity to join in MISH programs. Two upper school students per grade are elected to serve on the MISH leadership committee and four seniors lead the team, learning to collaborate and negotiate as well as plan for executing service projects.
Students are introduced to the core tenets of MISH and participate in a local community service project each school term. Students may repeat this co-curricular or they may take their new skills and pitch a service project or apply to join the MISH leadership team.
At designated Morning Meetings, MISH invites a guest speaker to talk about their organization, cause or issue to help raise awareness. These speakers are connected to ongoing projects MISH leads across campus and the communities beyond Masters.
